Your eBay Account Got Flagged - Reasons and Preventions
eBay has removed your top-rated status because of a dropshipping policy violation. This topic about flagged eBay accounts are trending for the past few years and we have some insights on this article on why your eBay account has been flagged and how You can avoid getting flagged on eBay. For further notice, as this information is not possible to prove You must adapt the idea and try on your eBay accounts. The best practice would be if You could try on multiple eBay stealth accounts to see better and faster results.
As this is slightly different based on what you are selling on eBay, how you are selling, and what business models are you using, we separate it to three main causes:
You were selling (dropshipping from local marketplaces)
To better understand what is local marketplaces: We called the local selling method when you are purchasing things from the same country your buyer purchased it. It Means you are selling from Walmart to the USA, from Amazon UK to eBay UK, from Amazon USA to eBay USA, and so on.
The main reason your eBay account got flagged when you are selling in local marketplaces is that this is a quite popular business model in all the world. Most of the dropshippers on eBay have not or barely tried to dropship items from China. So the eBay artificial intelligence gathered information is based on dropshippers who are selling from Amazon and Walmart. This does not mean you will not be able to sell on eBay from these websites, but what I am trying to explain is you have to change your selling behavior.
- Poor customer support.
- Delayed shipping time.
- Not delivered products.
- Stock pictures and
description metadata not removed.
- Repetitive problems with the SAME ITEMS.
THIS IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE ITEM LOCATION
You were selling (dropshipping from China to worldwide)
As this is not so popular to dropship items from the sites such as CJdropshipping.com or aliexpress.com eBay are less likely to flag your account selling from China as a dropshipper, however, the same rules apply to each seller on the eBay marketplace. Once the eBay artificial algorithm gathered information from most of the problem makers (dropshippers) they try to adapt gathered information on each seller on the marketplace. Keep in mind artificial intelligence is a robot, not a human being. It can not understand extraordinary situations yet. But it keeps improving. So the more people will act as real sellers the better the future for us – eBay dropshippers. Believe me or not. I have not been flagged for the past 3 years because I used different selling behavior to prevent from eBay account from flags.
Main reasons your eBay account got flagged selling from China:
The only reason is that you had repetitive problems with the same items. This is the main reason and it’s not the item location or stocked pictures this is where the algorithm finally caught you dropshipping.
if You would selling items from the same location and all of your items would be in the same stock and you would own these items – the percentage of not received items and returns would be the same on average for all items, but once one of your items starts getting problems this is where eBay knows – you are using suppliers to ship your items to your buyers.
For selling your own items
This is where standard sellers suffer from the eBay dropshippers. And this is where I start thinking, that eBay bans or flags accounts not because of the item location. This policy to ship items from the same location was quite not logical for us in the first place. Show me the huge company that has all its products in the same location? You can not. This is not how business works.
Main reasons your account got flagged even if you are not dropshipper at all:
1. Your are using ONLY stock pictures when selling your items. The algorithm perfectly knows, what white background items images are potentially listed by dropshippers.
2. You had a worse month in the item not received % and returns %. This usually looks suspicious to eBay and artificial intelligence which will cause your account flagged
3. Higher refund or canceled transaction rate. Dropshippers do like to cancel their orders when the supplier does not have an item in stock anymore so this practice may lead your eBay account to get flagged too.
eBay account selling behavior explanation
As I already mentioned that the eBay algorithm tries to gather all information from all the sellers on eBay and makes a decision based on the information, we already know, that this is happening because of the bad sellers on the platform. This means – this dropshipping violation policy may never come to daylight if most of eBay sellers using the dropshipping business model would sell at the best possible manner. They did not treat eBay dropshipping as a business which caused in the eBay account flag.
By saying you have to change your account behavior I meant you really have to do differently than most of the people are doing for the first 2-3 months.
